GRE revised General Test
In August 2011, the GRE revised General Test replaced the GRE® General Test. Featuring the new test-taker friendly design and new questions, the revised test more closely reflects the kind of thinking you'll do in graduate or business school and demonstrates that you are ready for graduate-level work.
Revised GRE general Test is out of total score of 340 with analytical writing in percentile. This test is conducted under three sections, Verbal reasoning, Quantitative reasoning, Analytical writing. Where score for Verbal & Quantitative is 170 each, Analytical is out of 6. Scores of revised GRE general test are valid for 5 years.

Verbal Reasoning
The GRE verbal section contains three types of questions: Text Completion, Reading Comprehension and Sentence Equivalence. The success in this section will depend on vocabulary. Typically, the verbal section contains 30 questions: 6 sentence completions, 7 analogies, 8 reading comprehension questions and 9 antonyms. These can appear in any order.

Quant. Reasoning
Referred as Mathematics section, this section tests basic understanding of arithmetic, algebra and geometry.GRE quantitative section
contains 28 total questions from the following fields: The Quantitative Comparison section, The Data Analysis section,
The Discrete Quantitative Comparison section involves traditional computational skills, and includes arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.

Analytical Writing
This section replaced the multiple choice Analytical Reasoning section on October 1, 2002. It tests the ability to analyse issues as well as the writing ability through 2 essays.
